The Committee will be proposing a
revised Constitution document for approval at the 2008 AGM.
This is available for review, but will not become effective
until approval of Members is formally received |

Current Rules - Effective
11-5-05
- The Club be called
‘The Nuneaton Dog Training Club’.
- The Club is a Private
Club with the following aims – to instruct owners of dogs in the
training of their dogs for the peace and safety of the general public, to
encourage and promote good husbandry in all areas of dog ownership, to
encourage owners to achieve nationally recognised certificates of
achievement, and to encourage competition between dog training
enthusiasts.
- The membership of the
Club shall be open to all owners and keepers of dogs of every breed and
type. No geographical limits are adopted.
- Current subscriptions
are as agreed by the Committee and are as displayed at the clubhouse.
- All subscriptions
will become due at the end of the financial year. No member will be
allowed to vote until their subscription has been paid.
- The financial year of
the Club shall end on the 31st December.

- The management of the
Club shall be in the hands of 12 members, consisting of the Chairman, the
Secretary, the Treasurer, and nine Committee members.
The
Committee have the power to co-opt Members to fill vacancies, the Chairman to
have casting vote in the event of a tie. Co-opted Members shall have the full
power.
- The Secretary,
Chairman, Treasurer and President shall serve three years without
re-election. All Committee members to serve for a period of two years,
shall be elected by ballot by all Members, the result to be declared at
the AGM, which will be held as soon as possible after the end of the
financial year. A balance sheet will be issued to all paid up Members for
their approval. No Members shall be elected to the Committee unless they
have been a Member of the Club for at least 12 months.
- Any member of the
Committee not attending three consecutive meetings without reasonable
excuse shall lose their seat.
- The Secretary must
attend all meetings and take minutes of the proceedings. In the event of
his/her absence, the Assistant Secretary will fill this capacity.
- The Treasurer will
receive all monies due to the Club and pay the debts as directed by the
Committee. Accounts must be kept and produced when directed by the
Committee. No member shall commit the Club to any debt without united
consent of the Treasurer, Secretary and Chairman. All monies to be
deposited with Bankers in the name of the Club.
- An Extraordinary
General Meeting may be convened at any time by the Committee and shall be
held within 21 days of the Secretary receiving the request in writing,
which must be signed by three members stating the purpose for which such a
meeting is required.
- At least 14 days
notice of any General Meeting shall be given by the Secretary to all
Members, stating the business to be transacted thereat.

- Members are
responsible for their own conduct, the conduct of their dogs and any
guests that they bring onto the Club premises.
- At all times the rule
of strict liability and negligence under the Animal Act of 1971 will apply
on the Club premises.
- Members have the
responsibility to ensure that all dogs are fit and healthy before bringing
them onto the Club premises and must inform the Secretary should their dog
develop or is suspected of having any contagious disease.
- No bitches in season
or about to come into season will be brought onto the premises under any
circumstances including when the Club is not meeting.
- Members are
responsible to ensure that all equipment used by them is suitable for the
type of training being undertaken and that all equipment is serviceable.
- Trainers in charge of
classes will maintain good order and discipline during lessons and will
inform any Member should their conduct, attitude or dog handling fall
below the required standard.
- Trainers will bring
to the attention of the Head Trainer as soon as possible any concerns
about a dogs well-being of its suitability to undertake a class.
- Any acts of cruelty
will be reported to the Head Trainer immediately.
- If the conduct of any
Member in the opinion of the Committee is injurious to the interests of
the Club, the Secretary shall give him/her seven days written notice to
attend a meeting of the Committee, which notice shall contain brief
particulars of the complaints made against him/her. The Committee will
decide whether the offence warrants suspension or expulsion. Serious
offences to be reported to the Kennel Club.
- The Kennel Club is
the final authority for interpreting the rules and regulations of this
Club and in all cases relative to canine and Club matters.
- No member may
communicate with the press without the consent of the Committee. The
Publicity Manager is exempt from this rule.
- The Club will not
hold itself responsible for damage caused by members of their dogs and the
responsibility is that of the individual member.
- Life and Honorary
Members. Persons who have given outstanding service to the Club, whether
or not as a Member, may be recommended by the Committee as Life Members of
the Club at any AGM. The Committee may in addition elect Honorary Members
for such a period, as the Committee may deem expedient. Life and Honorary
Members shall be entitled to all privileges of membership.
- Names and addresses
of all Members must be entered in a register kept by the Secretary.
- Resignation. A Member
may resign his/her membership at any time on giving notice by letter
addressed to the Secretary. A Member who submits his/her resignation shall
not be entitled to the return of any part of his/her current subscription
and ceases to be a Member from the date of his/her letter.
- A resigning Member
forfeits all rights to compete at the Club’s shows for any trophies
confined to Members, even though their subscriptions have not lapsed.
- Nominations for
election of Officers and Committee shall be signed by a proposer and
seconder (both of whom shall have obtained the consent of the nominee).
Motions for submission to the AGM, shall be signed by the proposer and
shall reach the Secretary at least 4 weeks prior to the date of the AGM.
Nominations
for election will be sought for a period of at least 4 weeks, commencing not
less than 3 months prior to the date of the AGM.
Motions submitted by the Committee shall be deemed to have satisfied the
above requirements.
- The accounts shall,
as soon as practicable after the end of the financial year, be audited.
- Any complaint by
Members must be made in writing to the Committee, who will respond
following discussion at the next convenient Committee meeting.
- Dissolution.
Consideration of dissolution shall be the subject of a special general
meeting for this purpose. If at this meeting it is decided to discontinue
the Club, a ballot vote shall be taken of the membership on confirmation.
If the ballot fails to provide a two-thirds majority in favour, a Special
Meeting will be called and a provisional Committee appointed as if the
Club were being established for the first time. In the event of the Club
being dissolved or otherwise ceasing to exist as a registered Club after
settlements of all outstanding debts any monies left to be donated to a
local charity.
- No alteration
amendment or addition to these rules shall be made except by a resolution
carried at an AGM in accordance with these rules.
- The Committee shall
have the power to deal with any matter not provided for in these rules.
- It is a condition of
membership that all Members must join the Third Party Group Insurance
Scheme. Premiums to be paid yearly.
- That all Members
putting places on the show graph must train at the Club with a minimum
attendance of 25 times per year to qualify for the Shilvock & Holly
Garden Trophies.
- No person whilst an
undischarged bankrupt may serve on the Committee of or hold any other
office or appointment within a Kennel Club Registered Society.
- Any request for the
use of Club equipment or grounds must be placed before the Committee for
agreement.
- No financial
sponsorship arrangements may be agreed by any member of section of the
Club without the consent of the Committee; such consent will not be
unreasonably withheld.
40A. Members must
take steps to ensure that noise levels are kept as low as is reasonably
possible whilst they and their dogs are present at the club premises or on
club grounds

- Health
and Safety is the responsibility of every person entering the Club grounds
and premises and any concerns should be communicated to an Officer of the
Club immediately.
- All
persons must clean up faeces deposited by their dog immediately and place it
in the receptacles provided solely for this purpose.
- Trainers
must check their training areas and any equipment used during their class
prior to its commencement for any hazards and suitability of the ground for
their given exercise.
- The
Head Trainer has the absolute jurisdictions on any matters concerning the
suitability of the ground during inclement weather or the suitability or
serviceability of any equipment used.
- Sub-sections
of the Club i.e. Flyball, Agility, Demonstration Team must appoint a named
Safety Officer who will be responsible to ensure that all equipment used is
serviceable and safe for the use to which it is being put and when visiting
other locations that the areas in which they are to perform are safe for
both handlers and dogs.
- When
giving demonstrations of performing in public places the Safety Officer must
check that a certificate and policy of public liability insurance is in
force and has viewed the policy and is satisfied as to its authenticity.
- The
Club will appoint a Risk Assessment Officer who will undertake periodic risk
assessments and report findings regularly to the Committee to discuss
appropriate action.
